We uphold the highest ethical standards in maintaining confidentiality, ensuring that your journey toward recovery remains private and respected. If disclosure is necessary due to safety concerns or legal obligations, we will make every effort to inform you beforehand.

Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct (Whistleblower Policy)

Ethics:
                   
Ethics are integral to the achievement of our mission. RCs are expected to comply with this policy and to hold to the highest ethical standards. RCs recognize situations and activities that must be avoided and those requiring disclosure or prior approval. RCs must always treat staff, fellow coaches, recoverees, and external parties with honesty, integrity, and fairness. Recovery Coaches are expected to understand and comply with the Mission Restart Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct as listed below.

Mission Restart's policy is that its employees, board members, and volunteers uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior. To that end, these employees, board members, and volunteers shall dedicate themselves to carrying out the mission of this organization and shall:

Hold paramount the public's safety, health, and welfare in performing their duties.

Act in a manner that upholds and enhances personal and professional honor, integrity, and the dignity of the organization.

Sexual orientation, maternity, marital or family status, disability, age or national origin.

Engage in carrying out Mission Restart’s mission in a professional manner.

Treat with respect and consideration all persons, regardless of race, religion, gender, 

Collaborate with and support other organizations and individuals in carrying out Mission Restart’s mission.

Build professional reputations on the merit of services and refrain from competing unfairly with others.

Recognize that Mission Restart's chief function at all times is to serve the best interest of individuals in recovery and the broad recovery community.

Accept as a personal duty the responsibility to keep up to date on emerging issues affecting the recovery community and to conduct themselves professionally, fairly, impartially, efficiently, and effectively.

Respect the structure and responsibilities of the board of directors, provide them with facts and advice as a basis for making policy decisions, and uphold and implement policies and programs adopted by the board of directors.

Keep the recovery community informed about the priorities and activities of Mission Restart.

Conduct organizational and operational duties with positive leadership exemplified by open communication, creativity, dedication, and compassion.

Exercise whatever discretionary authority they have under the law to carry out the mission of Mission Restart.

Serve with respect, concern, courtesy, and responsiveness in carrying out the mission of Mission Restart.

Demonstrate the highest personal integrity, truthfulness, honesty, and fortitude in all activities to inspire confidence and trust.

Avoid any interest or activity that conflicts with the conduct of their official duties.

Respect and protect privileged information to which they have access in the course of their duties with Mission Restart.

Strive for personal and professional excellence and encourage the professional and personal development of others.

Adhere to the mission, policies, statements, and other directives approved by Mission Restart's board of directors and executive director.


Conduct Policy: 

Mission Restart’s Code of Ethics and Conduct (“Code”) requires directors, officers, employees, and volunteers to observe high business and personal ethics standards in their duties and responsibilities. Mission Restart employees and representatives must practice honesty and integrity in fulfilling responsibilities and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Mission Restart directors, officers, employees, and volunteers must comply with the Code and report violations or suspected violations in accordance with this Whistleblower Policy.

No Mission Restart Director, officer, employee, or volunteer who, in good faith, reports a violation of the Code shall suffer harassment, retaliation, or adverse employee consequence. An employee or volunteer who retaliated against someone who has reported a violation in good faith is subject to discipline up to and including termination. This Policy is intended to encourage and enable employees and others to raise serious concerns within Mission Restart before seeking resolution outside Mission Restart.

Anyone filing a complaint concerning a violation or suspected violation of the Code must be acting in good faith and have reasonable grounds for believing the information disclosed indicated a violation of the Code. Any allegations that prove not to be substantiated and which prove to have been made maliciously or knowingly to be false will be viewed as a serious disciplinary offense.

Violations or suspected violations may be submitted on a confidential basis or submitted anonymously.

Mission Restart will acknowledge receipt of a reported violation or suspected violation within five (5) business days.

Mission Restart will promptly investigate all reports of Code Violation
Practice/Procedure:

Following Mission Restart’s open-door policy, employees and volunteers can share their questions, concerns, suggestions, or complaints with their supervisor, who, in most cases, is in the best position to address an area of concern.

When not comfortable speaking with a manager/supervisor or not satisfied with their response, the employee or volunteer may speak with anyone in management with whom they are comfortable approaching.

Managers and supervisors must report suspected violations of the Code to Mission Restart’s Board of Directors, who has a specific and exclusive responsibility to investigate all reported violations.

For suspected fraud, or when not satisfied or uncomfortable with following Mission Restart’s open-door policy, employees or volunteers should contact Mission Restart’s Board of Directors directly

Violations or suspected violations may be submitted anonymously or confidentially by the complainant. Reports of violations or suspected violations will be kept confidential to the greatest possible extent and consistent with the need to conduct an adequate investigation.


The Board of Directors will investigate and resolve all reported complaints and allegations concerning violations of the Code.

The Finance Committee of the Board shall address all reported concerns or complaints regarding Mission Restart’s accounting practices, internal controls, or auditing. The Finance Committee shall be immediately notified of any such complaint and shall work on such complaint until the matter is resolved.

The Board of Directors will notify the complainant and acknowledge receipt of the reported violation or suspected violation within five (5) business days.

The Board of Directors will promptly investigate all reports, and appropriate corrective action will be taken if warranted by the investigation.

The Board of Directors will take appropriate disciplinary action if any allegations have been made falsely or maliciously.

The Executive Director or Board of Directors will report to the Finance Committee at least annually on compliance activity.

Mission Restart Grievance Policy
Purpose
Mission Restart is committed to ensuring that all participants, staff, and stakeholders have a clear and fair process for voicing concerns or complaints. This policy provides a structured approach for addressing grievances in a timely, respectful, and transparent manner.
Scope
This policy applies to all individuals receiving services, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders of Mission Restart.
Definition of a Grievance
A grievance is a formal complaint regarding a policy, practice, decision, or treatment that an individual believes is unfair, discriminatory, or not in line with Mission Restart’s mission and values.
Procedure for Filing a Grievance
Informal Resolution
Individuals are encouraged to first address concerns directly with the involved party when possible and appropriate.
If the issue remains unresolved, they may seek assistance from a supervisor or designated staff member for mediation.
Formal Grievance Process
If informal resolution is unsuccessful or inappropriate, a formal grievance can be submitted in writing.
The grievance should include:
Name and contact information of the complainant
A detailed description of the issue
Any relevant dates, locations, and individuals involved
Any previous attempts at resolution
The desired outcome or resolution request
Submission of the Grievance

Investigation and Review
The Site will acknowledge receipt within five (5) business days.
A thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted, which may include interviews with relevant parties.
Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent possible.

Resolution and Response
A written response outlining the findings and any corrective actions will be provided within fifteen (15) business days of receipt.
If additional time is needed, the complainant will be notified with an estimated resolution timeline.
Appeal Process
If the complainant is dissatisfied with the resolution, they may submit an appeal within ten (10) business days of receiving the response.
Appeals will be reviewed by the Board of Directors or an independent panel, with a final decision issued within fifteen (15) business days.
Non-Retaliation
Mission Restart strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who files a grievance in good faith. Individuals who experience retaliation may report it through this grievance process.
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and best practices.
